Abstract
This document provides a general description of the entry characteristics, types, functions, specificities, and challenges of school supervision in Mexico. It begins with a brief historical overview of the emergence and initial laws justifying the existence of this position in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It then briefly describes the current Mexican education system, serving as a necessary reference for understanding the supervisory function in a diverse and complex country such as this.
