Abstract
Integrating well-being into education policy requires examining the contribution of school inspection and the conditions that sustain it. This article aims to provide a rationale for preventive, coordinated inspection focused on school improvement. It offers a reflective synthesis of two working documents on preventive culture and well-being, considered alongside Spanish national legislation and international institutional sources. Four main themes are identified: the organisational dimension of well-being, the allocation of responsibilities between school inspection and occupational risk prevention services, the limited visibility of everyday inspection practices, and inspectors’ own professional well- being. The analysis informs proposals to integrate well-being into inspection planning, improve coordination between services, follow up recommendations, and communicate the educational value of inspection activities. The article concludes that inspection’s contribution to well-being depends on technical rigour, safeguards, resources, and organisational arrangements that also support those responsible for supervising the education system.
