Abstract

The Eurydice 2020 Report, “Equity in School Education in Europe” (hereinafter Eurydice 2020), deals primarily with the comparative study of equity in education within the European Union [EU]. It is an extensive and detailed study that includes information that comes both from the countries that make up the EU and from international surveys (PISA, PIRLS, TIMSS, as well as Eurostat), which is why this report becomes one of the recent reference publications on equity in education systems. This article focuses on Early Childhood Education and Care [ECEC] in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, as a systemic factor that infuences equity in education, through the analysis of the applicable regulations and the scientifc literature with the object of refecting on aspects related to its organization and operation and proposing ideas for improvement. All this without forgetting that ECEC in children who come from sectors of the population in a situation of social, economic, cultural, ethnic or geographical disadvantage, are the most benefted from this attention and that equity is, at the present time, a priority aspect in education.
